About The Event

The purpose of this workshop is to bring together theorists and experimentalists of the Atomic, Molecular and Optical quantum physics community.
The goal is to envision theoretical protocols and experimental platforms for the new generation of Quantum Metrology & Sensing, Quantum Communication and Quantum Computation technologies that are at the core of the second quantum revolution.

About Shanxi University

Shanxi University is located in Taiyuan, which is the capital of Shanxi Province and boasts a history of 2,500 years. Its profound cultural heritage can be dated back to Sanli College in the Ming Dynasty and Jinyang College and Linde College in the Qing Dynasty. Shanxi University's predecessor was the Shanxi Grand School founded in 1902. Shanxi Grand School promoted the integration of Chinese cultures with Western sciences, while also paying equal attention to arts and natural sciences. The school was one of the most important cradles of Chinese higher education and a crucial institution for spreading culture, science, and education in Shanxi Province for over a hundred years.

    Fostering talent for more than a hundred years, it added another splendid chapter in the history of education, during those prosperous times. In 1998, Shanxi University became a key university sponsored by the People's Government of Shanxi Province. In 2003, Shanxi University got the Excellency Award after an evaluation of undergraduate teaching was conducted by the Ministry of Education. Since the 100th anniversary of its foundation, Shanxi University has made great strides in all academic fields. In 2005, Shanxi University attained the opportunity of co-developed by the State Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Shanxi Province.
    Shanxi University hosts over-all specialties and has built up a proud reputation for its profound research results. Eleven academic fields cover 69 majors for undergraduates and 18 majors for the double bachelor's degree. At present, it has 48 doctorate programs (6 first grade disciplines) and nine centers for post-doctoral studies, 137 general Masters of Arts and Sciences programs (19 first grade disciplines), and 16 specialized M.A./ M.S. programs. Shanxi University has state key subjects, state key laboratories, key laboratories designated by the Ministry of Education, key research bases in humanities and social sciences under the Ministry of Education, an engineering research center approved by the Ministry of Education, laying its profound academic and scientific research foundation. In recent years, there is an increase in acquiring national projects, including 973 National Projects, 863 National Projects, the Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, and the Projects of the Social Science Foundation. Sixteen projects won prizes for National Natural Sciences, National Technological Innovation, National Scientific and Technological Progress, Outstanding Achievements on the Study of Humanities and Social Sciences in Chinese Higher Educational Institutions and Natural Sciences of the Ministry of Education. Shanxi University is staffed by high-quality academic lecturers and has attained remarkable achievements in cultivating talents.
    Shanxi University has increasingly enlarged its international exchanges. It has established intercollegiate relationship with over 50 universities and institutions from the United States, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada and other countries. In addition, Shanxi University collaborates with the Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. "Briusov" of Armenia and the Pfeiffer University of the United States respectively to set up two Confucius Institutes. The establishments of these two Confucius Institutes have provided more opportunities for both Chinese students to join in tertiary education abroad, and international students to study in China.

About NTSC

NTSC is a scientific research institution engaging in the fundamental research and technology R & D in the fields of time-frequency and satellite navigation. Aimming at the international science-technology frontier and facing the needs for construction of national time-frequency system and satellite navigation system, NTSC is carrying out a series of scientific activities, such as the fundamental and applied researches in relevant fields, key technology research and system integration. As an important unit participating in establishing the International Atomic Time (TAI), NTSC undertakes the task to generate, maintain and transmit the national standard of time-frequency, and operates a national major scientific infrastructure - the long and short wave time service system.

Workshop: Taiyuan

Taiyuan is the capital of the northern Shanxi province and is known in China as the city of coal and iron. With a history of 2500 years, Taiyuan was originally a military outpost that enjoyed the reputation of Northern Gate to China.
From here it is in fact very convenient to reach other destinations in central China or other cities in Shanxi, such as the ancient city of Pingyao and Datong.

Conference: Xi'an

Xi'an is the capital of Shaanxi Province in China. It is one of the oldest cities in China, and the oldest of the Four Great Ancient Capitals, having held the position under several of the most important dynasties in Chinese history. Xi'an is the starting point of the Silk Road and home to the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. Since the 1990s, the city of Xi'an has re-emerged as an important cultural, industrial and educational centre.

Jinci Temple,25km away from downtown Taiyuan City located at the foot of Hanging Jar Mountain, is a place of interest famous for its long history and rich cultural relics, which is surrounded by mountains and trees and infused with a pleasant air and birds' wings.

The Qiao Family Courtyard

The Qiao Family Courtyard is greatly admired as a very special artistic treasure and is one of the ten best attractions in Shanxi Province. It was the residential house of the well-know financier Qiao Zhiyong of Qing Dynasty. More than 50 films, TV plays selected spot and took pictures here.

Twin Towers Temple

The Twin Towers, in the Yongzuo Temple, at Haozhuang on the eastern outskirts of Taiyuan, are the city's major symbol and landmark and are unparalleled anywhere across the country. They were originally known as the Xuanwen Towers, named for the Empress Dowager, Xuanwen (1578), who contributed to their building cost. They were completed in the 40th year of the Wanli emperor, of the Ming (1612), so they have about a 400-year history.
